Sandra
Print and mount final designs
Update branding board with web designs
Take photos of cereals in supermarket to use for point of sale mockups

Website ideas/ packaging
Post by Clare
My task for this week was to work on developing packaging for the cereal snack pots based on our house style. This is the mock-up I put together.
Here are a couple of website home page concepts.

These are my experiments with various layouts for the homepage.
Design on mouse hover.
On mouse hover, the sections relating to each flavour would become clearer

We asked Jason for advice about our pitch. His tips were:
Just have your best presenter deliver the pitch
Discuss what the story is
What is the brief
Target market
How you are answering the brief/addressing the issues
Visuals - why you chose the design elements and branding
Continuity across the brand
He explained that no mounted work was required for the pitch. Jason recommend that preparing for the presentation will take about 1 day for every 5 minutes of talking.
Feedback
Jason from Flourish was shown our work so far. He was very enthusiastic about our cereal box design for Spoon and gave us some very positive feedback. We need to develop our website further and create mockups of the designs for the other cereal flavours. We asked Jason for advice about our pitch. His tips were:

I came up with three variations of concepts for the desktop and mobile website homepage. Concept 3 is my preferred design.

Back of Packaging
Post by Clare
My task was to work on the back of the packaging over Easter. The task was to fit all the relevant information into the limited space available. These are the layout options I came up with using the elements we had already created.
Post by Sandra
During the last lesson before the Easter holidays we reviewed our design concepts so far and made firm decisions about the continued direction, and allocated the work to team members.
Clare felt that brown card could look a bit dull, but agreed to keep with the brown card packaging as long as we used the lightest one available. Patterns were discussed and we decided to use Leonie's "knitted" pattern, and two of Claire's designs.
We selected the design for the front of the box, and discussed how this would translate to the sides and back.
We decided that the body copy font would be Futura (or similar) and the typeface used for the slogan "made with pure maple syrup" (Swistbink) would be scrapped as, although we all liked it, a less stylised typeface was needed for body copy and two decorative fonts were already being used on the front of the pack.
Actions for Easter, in preparation to show Flourish on Wednesday 13 April are:
Add to/refine branding board - Sandra
Box backs design - Claire
Website home page and product page concepts - Leonie and Sandra

I made a start on the branding board which will contain all the elements of our brand. We will not produce as brand guide as Flourish said this was not required.
The initial draft is below, which will be refined and updated as we make final decisions on patterns, packaging etc, and we also need to decide on a body copy typeface.
Further Pattern Design
Post by Clare
Following our last group meeting I agreed to work on some black and white pattern variations. These are the patterns I came up with.
Quick mock ups on brown paper
I also tried some of the patterns on a white background
Packaging Variations
Post by Clare
Following from our discussion I had a play around with Leonie's design to see whether there might be other layout options.
This version has s slightly wider green strip and the spoon right aligned with text over the neon colour.
This version has a patterned panel on either side.
I also considered the possibility of the design being printed on white card rather than brown card.
This creates a different tone for the product.
One of the comments that Sandra made was that the product needs to stand out on the shelf.
This got me thinking about whether a bolder coloured pattern might be a better option.
I tried combining Leonie's design with Sandra's pattern.
This was the result.
